Hatton by Design is a new online bespoke engagement ring and diamond jewellery specialist based in the heart of Hatton Garden. Our mission is to provide people with the very finest diamond jewellery and engagement rings at exceptional prices. Up to 75% cheaper than the High Street.
We are able to provide such low prices by having direct access to both the master craftsmen in Hatton Garden and the diamond market, without the expensive costs and overheads of a High Street presence.

We are passionate about providing a luxury customer experience and pride ourselves on offering the highest quality. Quality stems from being ethical and we only deal with sight holders of the Diamond Trading Company to ensure all of our diamonds are conflict free. 

How does it work?
Our unique online diamond ring tool has been designed to help people create a unique design unlike any other piece of jewellery with over 16000 configurations. We allow people to choose the shape and style of ring, the cut and size of diamond, the colour and clarity. And unlike some online diamond retailers we offer certification for our diamonds.
Once a ring has been designed, our master craftsmen in Hatton Garden then go to work on creating every unique design. It will then be packaged beautifully and sent for that special moment.

What inspired you to start your business?
The idea for Hatton by Design was formed a year ago when the founder Steven Jenkins had a conversation with a wholesale diamond expert in Hatton Garden. With most other luxury brands moving online, he set about to create a bespoke diamond jewellery business which would offer the finest diamond jewellery and craftsmanship. All without the ridiculous mark-ups that you get with a High Street brand.

Working closely with the creative agency, Atomic London, he developed the new luxury brand Hatton by Design, for which we created our own technology to offer customers a unique way to create their own designs.
We have launched in July, and we are offering people access to the master craftsmen in Hatton Garden without having to visit London. Or as Steven Jenkins puts it:
“Rather than bringing people to Hatton Garden, we are taking Hatton Garden experience to them. On their phone, on their laptop, through a luxury experience.”
Setting up a diamond business has been an exciting journey. And working closely with a diamond expert with over 40 years experience in Hatton Garden meant that we understood very early on what people look for and what is important to them.

Building a luxury brand that offers the same exceptional quality of service to match our product has been critical to launching our brand. And we push ourselves everyday to make it the best possible experience for our customers. That’s what inspires us. 

What’s your favourite product/item?
There are so many combinations to create that it’s hard to choose a clear favourite! Right now I’m loving the Halo trend. Together with a Marquise or Pear cut diamond it makes for a stunning statement. Our ‘Paris’ engagement ring is truly beautiful!

That said, you also can’t beat a timeless classic like ‘Victoria’. Housed in a four claw setting, this stylish engagement ring is delicately encrusted with several smaller diamonds for the bespoke touch.

Any funny stories you would like to share with #BrideHour?
I guess my own proposal story is quite funny! My husband wanted to ask my Father’s permission before asking me to marry him. Unfortunately I unknowingly kept getting in the way and ruining his chances. Our long distance living arrangements meant time was of the essence and therefore he had to resort to the telephone. My Father in his own words ‘likes to keep in touch’ and answered the phone…whilst on the toilet! Needless to say, the conversation was brief and it made for excellent wedding speech material! 

What sort of things happen in your “typical” day?
Every day is different! From team meetings to researching trends, trade fairs, trying on the latest engagement ring styles (it’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it!), speaking to customers and keeping up with social media and news, there’s never a dull moment!

Top tip for couples planning their wedding?
It’s a day to celebrate you as a couple so think carefully about what style you both really want and go for it! 

Be mindful and clever with your budget – the day will end but your love will continue! Personally I’d rather spend money on a Diamond Wedding Ring that lasts forever instead of a chocolate fountain which sadly does not! Choose wisely! 

During the day, steal moments with each other to soak it all in – the day can pass by quickly so it’s lovely to take some time to capture the moment together.

Lastly – If something doesn’t go to plan, keep smiling! My wedding transport broke down and I got married 2.5 hours late! It was still the best day of my life!
