An increase in festive themed weddings at Buckinghamshire's Burnham Beeches Hotel, have led their wedding planners to believe that hog roasts are the next big thing in the wedding world.

Made popular by being the food of choice at celebrity weddings such as Katie Price, Poppy Delevingne and Kate Moss, the hog roast has regularly been on the menu for brides and grooms planning their weddings this summer.

The Wedding Planner at Burnham Beeches said: "We’ve definitely noticed an increase in bridal parties booking Hog Roasts. They suit more informal outdoor weddings perfectly as they provide a more relaxed atmosphere and are often cheaper than a sit down dinner. There’s something so lovely about an outdoor summer wedding, I’m not surprised they are getting more popular. A hog roast is also a perfect way to feed evening guests.”

Roasting a whole pig as a tradition goes back centuries if not more and was the centerpiece of celebratory meals. Weighing 80-120lbs (36-54kg) and taking 4-8 hours to cook, some hog roast companies also offer alternatives to pork such as beef and lamb.
